Maple, Brandywine

Maple, Brandywine

$85.00

Many of you asked us to source a maple tree that would suit a smaller property and have a vibrant red/purple fall colour. So you can imagine how excited we are to introduce the Brandywine Maple to the fundraising tree sale!

Developed by the United States National Arboretum, the “Brandywine” red maple (Acer rubrum) is across between the “October Glory” maple and the “Autumn Flame” maple. This crossing resulted in a tree that is tolerant to leafhopper, a primary pest of red maple trees.

The Brandywine grows best in hardiness zones 4 through 8, making it an excellent option for the Lanark County and Ottawa region. It thrives in well-drained soil but will tolerate occasionally moist soil. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. The Brandywine prefers being planted in a full sun to a partial sun location.

In ideal growing conditions, the Brandywine is expected to reach 30 feet high by 15 feet spread. It features vibrant green foliage through the spring and summer, shifting to an incredible red-to-purple during the fall months.

Delivered as a Bare Root tree.
Approximate height at time of delivery is 200 cm.

Trees well watered and properly cared for will have an excellent survival rate. Sorry, no guarantees or refunds: we are a non-profit organization.
