Nannyberry Shrub (Container)
Nannyberry, sometimes referred to as Sheepberry or Sweet Viburnum, is a native shrub that boasts large clusters of creamy white flowers in spring, showy blue fruit in fall and reliable brick red fall colour. The royal blue fruits are held in abundance in spectacular clusters from late summer right through to early winter.
Popular in jams and jellies, home gardeners also enjoy eating the ripe berries right off the bush.
Highly regarded as a versatile landscape shrub, the Nannyberry is adaptable to a wide variety of sites. Natively found in low woods or near streams, the Nannyberry also tolerates dry sites and will grow large in open, sunny spots.
Large, upright, and suckering, Nannyberry spreads by roots to form colonies and makes an excellent privacy or hedgerow, or it can be maintained as a small tree by pruning stems and removing suckers at the base.
Early spring blooms provide excellent pollinator support. Viburnums flower profusely whether or not pollination occurs.
