Crabapple, Harvest Gold
We've been waiting for this cultivar to return to the nursery catalogue and we're excited to announce we secured a few of the sought-after Harvest Gold Crabapple trees!
What makes this crabapple so popular? It's known for its showy clusters of fragrant white flowers that boast shell pink overtones along the branches. In mid-spring, distinctive rose flower buds will emerge. Now just imagine - dark green foliage with little gold pomes that sparkle from the early signs of fall right through to winter. In case that was not enough, the Harvest Gold not only gives it names to the little fruit it produces ... it also relates to the colour of the pointy leaves in fall: brilliant harvest gold! Oh, and birds love this tree!!
Highly regarded as a beautiful landscape tree, perfect for accenting or shade applications. At maturity under ideal conditions, the Harvest Gold Crabapple will reach 20 feet tall and spread approximately 15 feet.
This tree should only be grown in full sunlight. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and should not be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This particular variety is an interspecific hybrid.
