Maple, Fall Fiesta Sugar
New to the 2020 fundraising tree sale is the Fall Fiesta® Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum 'Bailsta'). This tree is known for its upright, round habit that reaches about 60 feet tall at maturity with an average spread of 50-60 feet. Basically, this is an excellent shade tree when mature!
The Fall Fiesta features very thick green leaves that are glossy during the spring and summer months. Come the fall, it boasts a beautiful mixture of orange, red and yellow - thus its "fiesta" name! Added bonus: the Fall Fiesta is not prone to maple leaf tatter!
The Fall Fiesta is a native North American species and is often regarded as a heritage tree worthy of planting for future generations to enjoy!
Things to Know
When compared to other sugar maples, this is a faster growing cultivar that prefers well-drained normal, sandy, clay, acidic or slightly moist conditions. Once established, the Fall Fiesta maple can tolerate heat, high winds and occasional drought. This tree should only be grown in full sunlight. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution.
