Highbush Cranberry Shrub

Highbush Cranberry Shrub

$55.00

The Highbush Cranberry is an attractive native plant all season long. In spring, it develops creamy white flowers that resemble lace-cap hydrangeas; in summer, dense foliage provides habitat for wildlife, and in autumn, the bush will develop tart red berries before the leaves turn from yellow to purple red in color.  The fruit is edible, and tastes best if made into a preserve or sauce. Fruits are a staple winter food for birds.

In a garden setting it can tolerate a variety of soils, although moist well-drained soil is best. While it prefers full sun, it can also handle partial shade.
